Report deployement

Hi,

I have a heavy report:

- 18 datasets (some with filters)

- 15 parameters

- about 10 tables (some with groups)

- lots of TextBox static or calculated (50 at least)

- and a little report footer

Anyway…

I’m using Visual Studio 2005 to deploy my report on a server. Recently, my deployments became very long and now, Visual Studio throw Timeouts when I deploy it. I walk around this problem with the report management site on the server But deploying my report through it takes about 8 or 10 minutes…quite long !

Here are my questions :

- What are report elements that causes such time span ?

- How lighten the deployment ?

- How configure the deployement timeout in visual studio ?

Which exact error message are you experiencing ?

The report services on the server has been installed with the french version

so the error message is in french : "Le dlai d'attente de l'opration a expir"

in english it looks like : "The wait delay of the operation has expire"

Report Builder Security Filter Examples

Does anyone have any examples on how to use the security filters in
report builder models. Do you setup a standard filter. How do you pass
the user back to the server in the query?

(userid) back to my model due to security setup in our system...we have
several 'user-access' tables for varying levels of security. For
example, any given user has access to specific accounts, but only
certain members within that account and only specific coverages within
those members. I don't see how I can set this up using roles but
perhaps I'm just missing it.|||the getuserid() function can be used... but... reportbuilder keep in cache
the first user which access a filter object where the getuserid() function
is used!!!
so if an "administrator" try the model, then every other users use the same
access!!!
but using the getuserid() into reportbuilder himself (the user create a
report and explicitly setup a filter) then the ID used is the right one, but
its not a good solution.
I'll do some other tests and keep you informed.

FYI, the incorrect behavior of the GETUSERID() function is a known issue
that is fixed in SP1, which will be available shortly.

needed. Now I'm trying to get the filters to work with it.|||Note that with the SP1 version of BOL (which will be available for download
when SP1 is released), there is a tutorial that walks you through how to set
up security filters using the GetUserID().

Report Builder Parameter List empty

After building a report in report builder, I've set on of the filters to prompt for user input "in this list". When I run the report I get a drop down list with nothing in it. I can manually type in a value an run the report but I'd like to be able to select the parameter from the list.

I've also tried clicking on (no values selected) and selected all the available values...however this gives me the same results.

I also have the same problem...and have been searching for an answer...

I know we fixed this or had a solution for this last year...and it may have something to do with the existing cardinalities in the Roles in the model...

But I'm still looking and trying to find a definite answer....
