Hi,
How can I display the report description on the report itself?
Have been looking over the books online but can't find the answer there.
Maybe its not supported?
regards,Please clarify the question.

Thanks for replying!
In the properties dialog of a report there is a 'Description' field in which
we are setting with text that describes the report's purpose.
Basically, I'm looking for a way to add this description field in a textbox
on the report, such that the description text is printed on the report. Is
there a global object collection which exposes this property?
example: Globals!reportName displays the report name, is there something
similar for the description?

textbox to your report that contains the description.

Report Bulilder & Report Designer (Comp matrix)
Guys,
Is there any comparison matrix available online between Report Builder &
Report Designer (VS2005)? If yes, can you please redirect me to it?
Thanks,
RohitAlso, I want to know if the reports designed in Report Designer can be
opened in Report Builder. If we cannot, then, are there any alternatives? I
want to give an option (to the client) to modify reports created via Report
Designer without using 3rd party report designer tools or VS2005. Is this
really possible?
I also want to the limitations of Report Builder.
Thanks,
Rohit

Here's a link to a general comparison between the 2.

Also, can the data model created in VS2005 used in Report Builder (without
losing all the Calculated Members)?

Report Building
Can you build reports using SQL Express w/o SQL 2005. If so how, the online books are not making this very clear. You can use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services.
But this is only capable for local relational data:
-Run SQL Server Reporting Services reports on local relational data.

Report Builder and Joins
Is there a way to use the online report builder web app and do table joins?
If so, how?
If not, just let me know.
Thanks. The report builder in SSRS 2005 is not a web app, it's actually a click-once
smart client application. You can have joined tabled but relationships
should be defined in the report model you create to use in the report builder.

Replication, Log Shipping and Backup
Hi there all.
In my installation there is a main online DB which replicates
some of its data with transactional replication to another DB.
I also use log shipping so that there is always a stand by server
for my main DB.
1. With this installation, can I still keep backing up my log every
half an hour as I used to before log shipping? I would feel much more
safer if I could. Is there a way to do it?
2. Log shipping uses log backups, so it truncate the log every time
it posts changes to the standby server, is that correct?
Thank you all in advance.
George
1) yes, but you might want to back it up more frequently as replication
writes to the log too - not much, but some.
2) it doesn't truncate, but it does back it up.
