Report Builder install

We have installed Visual Studio 2005. I made a model and posted it to the report server. My LAN Admin can see the Reports Builder icon on the report server. I do not. I do see my model, but have no ability to click open the report builder. My LAN Admin gave me several permissions, I am admin on my own machine, and I do have .net 2.0 framework installed. Why do I not get the report builder icon on my report server page? ThanksYou need permission to the Execute Report Definitions task, which is included in the System User role by default.

Report Builder button missing - exec rep defs ticked & rep build ticked

I can see report builder in IE (I am report admin), but my users are not able to, despite having ticked 'report builder' against their name in folder security.

They have
Browser, Report Builder

Why can't they see it?

"Site Settings - Security - Config sys wide role defs - sys user " has "execute report defs" ticked.

Anyone, hmm?

They also need to be listed as System Users under Site Settings. In Report Manager (IE) click on Site Settings / Configure Site-Wide Security / Add a new role assignment with the userid and grant them System User status. Have the user refresh IE and they should see the Report Builder icon.

|||Confused....

We currently use AD groups to control user access to the RS.

An AD group is assigned one or more roles. e.g. 'browser','content manager'

How is it they are able to access the RS if they are not part of 'system user'?|||the solution:

create an AD group called report builder - add all your users who require RB access to this in IE, report manager: site settings - site wide security - new role assignment - enter ADReportBuilderGroupname and tick "system user"

Report Builder button doesn't appear....

Hi,
I have the latest CTP installed. Users do not see the report builder button.
Only members of the local admin group seem to have it displayed. Can anyone
steer me in the right direction'
AllanI have run into a similar problem on my machine. The Report Builder button
never appears in my report manager home page.
I'm using Windows 2000 workstation with SQL Server 2005 (September)

problem. I have ensured that the users are in the Reporting services Content
Manager security group (and indeed every other group) but with no joy. Only
members of Windows Domain Admins group can see the button.
I guess I must be missing something ... ?

--> System USer has "Execute report definitions" is checked. This is not
checked by default if you are upgrading to 05. If you are installing it brand
new, then it is checked by default.

cases).
Having the same issue, adding a user to the local admin group of the
SQLRS2K5 server has the Report Builder button appearing. Remove the user
from the local admin group, the button goes away.
Trying all other local groups for the user do not resolve the issue. Looking
also for a way to get this to work.

The solution is:
site settings -> Configure site-wide security -> New Role Assignment ->
add user to either 'System Admin' or 'System User'

do this versus just assigning the user to the report builder role under item
level security?

Report Builder (rsaccessdenied) error message

Hi,

I have created a Report Model and published it on our QA environment Report Server(Where I dont have admin access). When I try to launch the Report Builder tool and create a sample report and Run the report it gives me this error. "The permissions granted to user 'Domainname/user group' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)" I checked with the Admins on this server the usergroup has a "Browser" Role. I had read on some online fourm that if user group has browser role it should work. But I cant get it work any help is appreciated.

I have published the same Report Model in Deveploment environment report server(where I have admin access) and when I do the same thing I am able to run the reports.

Some one please help me its causing delay in our testing.

Thanks

Ashwini

I think you need the report builder role. Not just browser, that is not enough permission.

Thank you!! I will let the Admin know about this and ask them include the Report Builder Role and will try again and see if it works.

Ok we tried giving the role Report Builder to the user and Report Builder Role has these tasks assosicated - Consume Reports,Manage Individual Subscriptions,View Folders,View Models,View reports,View resources. Even after giving this role it did not work. So we even selected all the tasks under Report Builder Role just for testing this did not work either.

Here is the exact scenario: when I get the error message it says this user's "IHS-T-CRRSWQ-01\IUSR_WFS-4376A9A5D75" permission granted is insufficient this user is the one which is running on IIS. But this is one of the user under user group "NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users" which has Report Builder Role. I am really getting into circels here any help appreciated.

Thanks!!

Replication/Admin Help

We run a small business with a LAN of 2 pcs, a laptop pc, and a web server that runs Win2k Server with Exchange on it. My pc is used for most of the development and it also houses SQL Server (Developer) 2k. We have SQL Server (Developer) installed on the other network pc as well.

Here's the problem: We sometimes have to take my pc with us to use at different sites (with no internet connectivity at the time). When this happens, any data access on our web site is 'down' because our web data is in the sql server db on my machine. I want to replicate the db on the other pc so that we can take that machine to the different sites. I am having trouble getting this done.

Can someone give me some direction? Is there a good tutorial or a book or whatever somewhere? I am really in need of some sql server admin knowledgebase.

Thanks!!Have you considered merge replication? you could then publish to your network sites from either computer with transactional publications and have the two "master" databases have a merge publication between them. When the machine goes off site, the other will continue to provide data to the site and when the other machine returns, any update made to it can be merged with the local machine.

if this will do the trick, books online should have all you need as far as setting it up goes...|||Have you considered merge replication? you could then publish to your network sites from either computer with transactional publications and have the two "master" databases have a merge publication between them.
