Report Description

Can someone please let me know what the use of the Report > Report Properties
> Author & Description Fields are?
When I deploy my reports to the server these values are not visible in the
report properties of the report manager nor are they exposed to be used in a
report. Both of which I want to do.I have just tested what you said below, and I found that although the Author
property I entered was overwritten by my NT login, the description came
through alright on the server after deploying. Go to the Properties tab of
the report in Report Manager and click on the General link; you should see
the description at least.
The description is very useful when searching [there is a Search for text
box at the top right of the screen].

I deployed my rdl using visual studio and the description was not displayed
on the general link of the report properties in the report manager. I also
tried this by uploading the rdl file onto the server...no description either.
Is there a setting that coud be preventing this from occuring?

it...so I really dont know what the issue could be.

only goes over it it is the first time you have deployed. Delete the report
on the server and redeploy and the description will come over.

thanks it works now. Is there away to prevent the NT login name from
overwriting the Author name?
